The Average American Male - Chad Kultgen

Well, I gave this book 3/5 stars. I felt that if I gave it more it would be going against my own sex! It was offensive and yet I couldn't put it down. It is about what the "average American male" really thinks about and what he does. He was an arrogant shit but for some strange reason I was on his side! I admit girls can get a little crazy sometimes and it's because we have a lot of constant changes in our hormonal systems. I didn't really feel bad for Casey. She kept coming back to him even when he said all those offensive things to her in the car, in front of her mother no less.

What I didn't like about this book is how unbelievable the characters are. I mean , maybe it's true but I just didn''t like any of them except for Carlos (the gay one). Whatever. All in all I thought it was an interesting read and although I was offended at times it didn't make me want to put it down. AND it's going to be made into a movie to be released in 2010.

Finished The Lie

First off I would like to say that this book is like a car crash, you just can't look away. I am not really sure how I feel about it. I didn't hate it but I didn't love it yet I gave it 4 stars... It is hard to say what I thought. I hated all the characters but I felt myself hating Heather more so. I hated how she was. Why do I hate her more than Brett? Brett was egotistical and plain out disgusting but he was real and true. He never out up a front and was honest. And Kyle...Well i hoped the very best for him and I understand him, a little. You do dumb things for love and his might not have been the best but now his life is ruined and it seemed like it may have been going somewhere.

Oh and don't forget poor Erin! I hated every minute of Kyle and Erin's last meeting. I just wanted to reach in the book and punch him in the face! I was never hoping for their relationship to work. I actually didn't trust Kyle as much as I had in the beginning but what he did to her was just horrible! She really will never forget it and he may have ruined her idea of men for quite awhile. I am sure she will not be dating anytime soon.

I have to now read his first book, The Average American Male it didn't get great reviews but it seems to be flying off shelves and it is also soon to be a movie so it has to be some sort of good.

I am now reading a YA A Northern Light by Jennifer Donnelly. It is completely opposite for Chad Kultgen's book but it was next on my list so...?? I will let you know how it goes.

The Lie

So I am now reading The Lie by Chad Kultgen. I friend of mine recommended it to my Goodreads book club and I was curious so I took it out from the library and I gotta say it is a bit disturbing but yet fascinating to me and I really can't explain why. Every chapter thus far is in the voice of three different people. One, Brett, who is a very rich and popular kid who doesn't have any regards for women and uses them completely and then there is Kyle, who is a sensitive yet bright guy who happens to be best friends with Brett, although he is not sense in the same financial status, and finally there is Heather, who is the girlfriend of Kyle and who very much wants to attention of Brett. All of them are in college and every chapter is leading up to something but I can only guess that it gets bad and I sense revenge...

I am not really sure why I am interested in this book but something is allowing me to continuously read it and try to avoid putting it back down.

This is Chad Kultgen's second book. His first is called The Average American Male and I might just read it if The Lie doesn't entirely piss me off but I think it is actually going to be a movie - the Average American Male. On the IMDb it is said to be out in but no other information is really available. Kutlgen's books did not get any really good reviews but it is in high demand and they sell out so I think everyone may just agree with me in not truly knowing why we like to read his stuff.

I am only about 100 pages in and I started it only hours ago so I am hoping it will be one of those 1-2 days reads.
