The Girl who Played with Fire

So I finally finished the book (it took my 2 weeks) and I loved it! It was much better than the first one [The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo]. I got right into it. I gave it a total of 4 stars (only a selected few get 5 stars). I am very excited, and impatient, for the last one, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest. It is not yet translated. I might be wrong, but I think it should come out March 2010 but I am unsure of that. I guess I would have to look into it.

Anyway, I liked it because it got you guessing all the way through. All the characters were great, even if you didn't like them. You loved to hate them! I never really read mysteries and the sort but this one was great and as I said it grabbed me from the beginning and sucked me in!

My TBR (To Be Read) list is growing... there are so many books that I want to read but it is hard considering motherhood, work, & school but thank Goodness for public transportation! That's where I get most of my reading done, that and when the kids are asleep, which is hardly ever!

I now just started reading Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers and I have gotten a lot of mixed reviews of this book. A very small handful of people liked it but as you can tell by the title is may not be suitable for a lot of people. I don't mind it. I always said that I would donate my body to Science so that others can learn. What am I going to do with it when I die? This is not a novel nor is it a text book it is simply her pure fascination. She was "curious" to see what really goes on and for what reasons. I am not loving it nor am I hating it. It will be a fast read and then off to another read!

Stieg Larsson

So I finally finished up on Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts and I gave it a total of 4 stars. I really enjoyed it but I wouldn't give it a full 5 stars. There are just some important things I feel that he left out (and for obvious reasons) Sometimes I felt that he thought very highly of himself maybe cocky? Oh well I guess in some ways he has the right to be.

I am now starting the late Stieg Larsson's second book The Girl who Played with Fire it is the second of the trilogy (The Girl wit the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire, & The Girl who Kicked the Hornets nest - yet to be translated). Mr. Larsson died shortly after his books were published. He lived in Sweden. The first of his books were great but it was very hard to get into at first because of all the business jargon but once you got passed the first few chapters it was quite good. This book grabbed you the minute you opened it. So far I can't put it down! It is too bad that the author passed away (and at a young age too - mid-fifties) because I think he would've kept writing and delivering such great books but we will just have to thank him for what he did leave us!

Still reading Shantaram...

Well, I am still reading Shantaram. I got no reading done this weekend because I had much to do. Friday we had the Brooklyn Cyclones game. Saturday we went to a BBQ. Sunday we went to our friends house in Long Island and in the car on the way there I read some articles for school and then on Monday, since I had the day off I let my babysitter have the day off too so it was just me and the girls. Once I got them to nap my sister and her husband came over and took us all out to dinner. Once I got them down I jumped in the shower and I was going to read for a bit and then take care of some chores but that never worked. By the time I got home from dinner, we went to look at an apartment that we may move into (but not for another year or two - it's a long story) and when I got home I was done. i was so tired that after I got the girls ready for bed, I took the baby into bed with me and left my husband with Marley and I went to sleep. I think it was like 8pm.

So, I got to read on the bus on the way into work today and this part of the book is not the greatest but now it is starting to get better. I am at the part where he is at the war and blah blah now it is getting good because he just found out about Khader and so on... I just wasn't getting into the war part so much and then Khader & Lin got into one of their rants and I found myself reading but not really paying attention to what I was reading. I don't know maybe I am just ready to get to the next book. Or maybe I am just reading too much from pleasure to school to work. Who knows? But at least now it is getting better again. I still love the book.

I am going to start The Girl Who Played with Fire right after this.
